a game designer does not create technology, she creates experience. An experience is usually framed by the cultural baggage one carries. Setting up systems of experiences that can convey one's personal, shared or imagined culture  (in a simple way) really opens up the creation of games for many people. In the same way small zines have given a voice to people on the margins, games could do the same. There is a certain stigma that needs to be broken though; the gamer and all the culture that comes with that can be off putting to some. Zines are limited in thier reach however, language is a key factor in thier success. Games I think can reach a larger audience..

My goal for this course is to create an immersive VR environment where the user controls experiences via touch sensitive prayer beads. To make this happen I need to learn not only how to make these "experiences" happen, which will consist of documentary and narrative material, but also learn how to make the controller work with Arduino and unity. One more thing is to physically make the prayer beads with the proper hardware included, which I have started working on but haven't found a solution.
